The area

From Val di Cornia to the Island of Elba: Etruscan villages, beaches, Maremma flavours and sustainable mobility along the Etruscan Coast.

Agricampeggio Tognoni is located on Via delle Caldanelle, Loc. Sdrisciola, just steps from Parcheggio Caldanelle parking — a strategic base for exploring Val di Cornia without giving up contact with the Maremma countryside. From here, in just a few minutes by car or on Autolinee Toscane summer shuttles, you reach the Gulf of Baratti, Populonia and the main destinations of the Livorno coast.

The area is crossed by the Val di Cornia Parks system, recognised as a UNESCO Global Geopark: a mosaic of metalliferous hills, Mediterranean scrub, medieval villages and archaeological sites linked to Etruscan civilisation and ancient Elban ironworking. Suvereto, Campiglia Marittima, Massa Marittima and Rocca San Silvestro complete itineraries that combine culture, nature and views over the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The sea is the absolute star: the Bay of Baratti, the cliffs of Calamoresca, the pine forest of San Vincenzo and Sterpaia Park offer beaches for every taste, from sandy to rocky. From Piombino, about twenty minutes away, ferries and hydrofoils depart for the Island of Elba; in a single day you can alternate breakfast among the campsite olive trees, a dip in crystal-clear water and a stroll through the fortified town of Portoferraio.

The sections below explore villages and parks, islands and beaches, dining and evening life, thermal wellness, summer bus connections and the cities of Piombino and San Vincenzo. At reception you'll find maps, up-to-date tips and directions for getting around comfortably — even leaving your car at Parcheggio Caldanelle and taking the free 15E shuttle to Baratti and upper Populonia.
